RIDING FOR REFORM
3rd Annual Bike Ride in Israel
Supporting Progressive Jewish Education
March 26-30, 2006 / 26 Adar-1 Nisan 5766
Do you like to ride your bicycle?
Do you love Israel?
Think you might like to ride through the Land you love?
Join other Jews from the world-wide Progressive movement… leaving behind tour buses and monotonous highways and forging a new path
to help Reform Jewish education grow. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy some of Israel's less well-known and more attractive paths and routes, and pass through sites of scenic and historical interest. Tired from all the cycling? You get that boost of energy from the knowledge that, with every mile you ride, you are helping to raise money for educational programs for young Israelis in the spirit of the Reform movement.
This 5-day adventure through Israelincludes stops at Reform congregations, exploring caves, riding through gorgeous valleys and along riversides. You must be 18-years-old (or 17 if a parent/guardian accompanies you).
Part 2 of the Trip: Each participant pledges to raise at least $2,000 USD through donations and scholarships. Ride4Reform pledges to spend every dollar raised on community programs bringing the values of Reform Judaism to children, youth and young adults around Israel. Some of the programs they support include education in kindergartens, public schools, youth movement, summer camps, college programs, and hundreds more! The funds you raise will help strengthen the sense of identity and purpose of Israel's Progressive communities in a way that is meaningful, moderate and pluralistic.
Can’t ride your bicycle? You can still be a part! It is a very strenuous trip, but you can still help others. Most of the route is along paths and
unpaved tracks, and includes some steep ascents as well as easier stretches. If you're unable to ride along with us, please don't feel left out.
By sponsoring a rider, you will play a tangible and much-appreciated part in the success of this endeavor.
